Why this page exists
This is the first domain name I ever registered, back in the 1990s, when I was teaching myself how to make websites. It has stayed with me ever since. There is nothing to sell here and nothing to sign up for - this page is just a marker, left deliberately, to say that the address is still mine and still means something.
Everything you are looking at is hand-written HTML and CSS. No JavaScript, no frameworks, no trackers, no cookies. That felt like the only honest way to build it.
What used to be here
The Internet Archive still holds the original site. Its earliest capture is from April 2001, and the page carried the line “Masterstyles online (c) 2000” in its footer.
It was built in Microsoft FrontPage. It had a LinkExchange banner across the top,
a Count.cgi hit counter at the bottom, an HTMLGear poll, a scrolling
headline feed, and rather a lot of animated hearts. It was, in every respect,
a website of its time.
